Our annual church faire is only 2 days away! Yard Signs are available at the church. Please pick up one or two and help spread the word at our Faire!

Donations Needed and Ways to Help

  • Jewelry Room donations
May be dropped off at the church office. Also, if you’d like to volunteer to help with set up, or coverage during the Faire, please email: meg@eventsbymeg.com. Replies will be forthcoming after 9/16.
  • Book Nook donations
Starting September 20, please leave books in the hallway outside the Music Room (not inside). If you have any questions or need help getting books to the church, please contact Betsy. Also, consider spending an hour or more during the week before the Faire to help sort and shelve the donated books!
  • Puzzle donations
Please leave puzzles in the hallway outside the Music Room starting September 20, or contact Joan.

If you bake it, they will sell it! Remember to schedule a baking session to contribute to our always successful Bake Table. Items must have ingredient labels on each package. Let Betsy know if you need help with labelling.

The Farmstand

Wow! We’re going to need a bigger table! We are adding several handmade crafts like stuffed dogs that you will love. This is in addition to the usual decorated pumpkins, photo cards, house plants, jams, catnip mice, etc.

How can you help? If you can make any of the following we would love to add them to our offerings at the Farm Stand: House plants, fresh veggies, jams, crafts, etc. Many thanks for all the support this year and past years.

Silent Auction

The Silent Auction still needs some items and are looking for these top sellers from previous years:

  1. Kids things – toys, games, art supplies and family activities would be wonderful – and think of all the memories these things can create
  2. Services – do you have a special service that you can offer? Carpentry, or Handyperson, or Organizing, or Shopping, or anything you think you would love to have some help with – someone else likely wants it too! Your offer of your time and help helps us twice – for the winning bidder and the church!
  3. Food – these items had a lot of bids during previous auctions – and your soup, cakes, pies, casseroles, lasagna, chili, anything would be wonderful. Imagine how good you will feel to offer a meal so that a busy family has a chance to sit down together after a full day of work and school and all the after school activities and have a delicious meal or treat to share.

The Silent Auction goes live September 19 so get ready to start bidding!

Mark your calendars for the initial set up on Sunday, September 20th after morning service.  We will be setting up tables in the Sanctuary, Music Room, and Conference Room. Please let Jim Maitland know you can help. It doesn’t take long, with enough helpers. The next phase of set up will take place early on the morning of the Faire, September 26th, under the tents on the lawn.

Faire Food

There will be a “taste of Reading” at our Faire Food this year. We will be serving local favorites Harrow’s Chicken Pie, Empanadas from Del Sur, and Nella’s pizza starting at 11am. Of course, we will also have our popular pulled pork, cole slaw, and mac & cheese, plus drinks, snacks, and ice cream treats. We still need people to volunteer a little time to pick up food and staff tables during the Faire.  Please contact Betsy if you can offer an hour or two.

Kids’ Games

will keep the young ones happy while parents shop and chat. Vern can always use some help running this fun area.

And just so you know, AJ Jerrett will be drawing Caricatures at the Faire, and Rev. Emelia will be leading the Face Painting table! We will also have the directors of Mission of Deeds and the Reading Food Pantry at the Faire to talk about their missions in our community.

If you have any questions or wonder where you can be involved, please contact Betsy Schneider.
