Is something Jesus talked about frequently. The FCCR Care Ministry has among its offerings, meals for people going through a challenging time. You may know of people who have been blessed by this ministry.

We seek to revitalize our list of volunteers – those who might be willing to be called on from time to time to provide a meal. Our “ace organizer” will find out about allergies and preferences, and pass that information on to you. Sunday School for All Ages

Our New Sunday School model starts October 20

This year, one Sunday each month will be designated as a Sunday School Sunday. After church ends, at 11 AM there will be a class for kids in grades Pre-K to Grade 5 as well as a class for adults! Rev. Emelia hopes we can coordinate to also have a multi-church youth group for middle and high school youth later this year. We are also in the process of hiring a part-time Christian Education instructor, and hope to also have volunteers assist from time to time.

Part of First Congregational Church’s Sanctuary Arts Series to highlight arts and cultural programming in the historic sanctuary in the heart of downtown Reading. Go to www.churchofreading.org/sanctuaryarts

Screening of the black and white film on the big screen in the historic sanctuary with live accompaniment by Jeff Rapsis, a New Hampshire-based composer who specializes in creating music for silent films.

The show will allow movie-goers to experience the silent ‘Phantom’ the way it was intended to be seen: on the big screen, with live music, and with an audience.

All are welcome to this family-friendly event. Admission is free, with a suggested donation of $10 per person. …

Join a Music Ministry

Fall is coming and Music Ministries are about to start back up!

  • Sing in the choir! Join the rehearsal at 8:30 AM on Sunday, Sept. 15
  • Join the orchestra! Rehearsals happen after church select Sundays.
  • Ring handbells! Rehearsals will resume soon on Wednesdays at 7 PM in the sanctuary.

July/August Collection – School Kits for Church World Service

Our school kit collection is underway! Drop your donations off outside the Music Room.

Shopping List

  • One pair of blunt scissors removed from the package (rounded tip, only)
  • Three 70-page count spiral bound notebooks or notebooks totaling 200-210 pages (no loose-leaf or filler paper)
  • One 30-centimeter/12” ruler
  • One hand-held pencil sharpener removed from the package
  • One large eraser (no pencil cap erasers)
  • Six new, unsharpened pencils with erasers (remove from packaging and use a rubber band to to hold the pencils together)
  • One box of 24 crayons (only 24)

We are also accepting monetary donations for shipping expenses. Checks may be dropped off in the office (not in the kit collection box) or mailed. Write “CWS School Kits” in the memo line. To donate on the church website, use the link below and use the drop-down menu to select “CWS School Kits”.
