Capital Campaign Update June 2025
The Project Management Team is thrilled to announce that two additional projects are ready to start. Contracts have been negotiated and signed with Specialized Roofing to repair/replace the Chapel Roof, as well as the 1959 flat roof – the “big” roof. The contractor has told us the work will be done in July/August, well before the weather changes. These two projects should complete our large roofing jobs, although other roofs will be professionally inspected, potentially for smaller repairs.
Looking forward, the Property Team has identified several masonry issues that need to be addressed:
- Precast concrete sections around the exterior, especially at the Woburn Street front door.
- Lintels above the doors and windows in the 1911 building.
- Mortar around all the stone exterior.
As most of you know, weakened or missing mortar is another critical way water gets into the building. We are requesting inspections and estimates for these projects now.
When FCCR signs a contract with a provider, all the money to cover that project is marked as “committed” in our Capital Campaign budget. Our available cash funds are reduced, so we can’t take on another project until more campaign contributions are received. The financial picture is dynamic, but here is a snapshot:
| $358,000 | Donations as of end of April |
| – $126,600 | 1911 2nd Floor Roof – completed |
| – $ 23,300 | Chapel Roof – contracted |
| – $ 88,200 | 1959 Flat Roof – contracted |
| – $ 6,322 | Previous Campaign Expenses Paid |
| – $ 4,389 | Balance to CB&LF for Campaign |
| TOTAL $109,189 | Available Cash in Fidelity Account |
We would like to thank everyone for staying current with their commitments, and encourage everyone to continue doing so. This project is the result of everyone’s concern and generosity!
Thank you,
Linda Ananian, Gary Hylan, Mark Johnson, Joan Kingston, Deidre Ryan, Betsy Schneider
