Scripture and Other Readings
for Your Wedding Service

God's love is revealed and celebrated in holy scripture. One or more Scripture lessons will be read by either the pastor or laypersons (such as members of the family or wedding party), as a witness to that love and the Bible’s affirmation of marriage. Other readings from popular literature or poetry may also be read. The following is a list of oft used wedding scripture lessons with a short description of the theme. You are encouraged to read the entire passage and allow God’s word to speak to you as you select Scripture that reflects your relationship. The pastor will reflect on your selection in the homily. These lessons are listed in their order in the Bible.
